Expungements Granted for Drug Possession Convictions!

Recently, Attorney Robert Ambrose obtained full statutory expungements on two separate drug possession convictions in two different metro counties. Neither case resolved in favor of his client, which means the burden was on us to show why our client deserved the expungements. Thankfully, each court agreed we met our burden and ordered full statutory expungements for each.

Attorneys love to toot their own horns and pat themselves on the back for a job well done. However, in these matters, it was primarily the work of the client since the time of the incidents that put himself in a position to gain expungement. We merely put the expungements together, followed proper processes, and did our job. The client did the heavy lifting by gaining and maintaining sobriety in turning his life around. Chemical dependency is overwhelmingly a central part of most criminal cases. When people have clear eyes, they are much less likely to find themselves in front of a judicial officer to face criminal accusations. When someone shows a pattern of sobriety, it is much easier for a court to believe the person deserves expungement.

Importantly, the court awarded full statutory expungements on both matters. Currently, under the Clean Slate Act, many offenses may be eligible for an automatic expungement through the BCA. However, those expungements typically just seal judicial records and those held by the BCA. Generally, other agencies that may hold records of the incident will not be served with an expungement order deriving from an automatic expungement. Until that gets changed, full statutory expungements are best to ensure records are sealed by any agency that may have one.

We thoroughly enjoy working on expungement cases. It is very rewarding to work on a case where someone is trying to better themselves. We also get to hear inspiring stories of rehabilitation, redemption, and success. Being able to help boost those remarkable people even further is a true reward for us.
